The Basics
PACSDrive accepts DICOM files from your modalities,
encrypts them, and securely transfers the files over SSL/TLS to the PacsDrive
datacenter for permanent offsite storage.
To save you on storage space, PACSDrive can also make use of DICOM conforming JPEG image compression. You can choose between lossless, 10:1 lossy, or no image compression.
Setup
Once you have opened an account with PACSDrive, you must download and install the PACSDrive software. This software
acts as a secure gateway between your DICOM network (e.g. modalities, PACS)
and our datacenters. You can install
the PACSDrive software on any Microsoft Windows™ computer connected to your local network and the Internet. No additional
hardware is required.
Once the PACSDrive software is installed, you must configure your DICOM nodes (e.g. your CR, Ultrasound, PACS, etc) to communicate with PACSDrive. The default DICOM options are "pacsdrive" for the AE Title and 4024 as the port number. The ip address would be the static ip address of the computer you installed PacsDrive onto. You will need to enter this information into your modalities or PACS.
Restore and Recover
In the event you need to retrieve a study you can search and download it directly from the PACSDrive website and import into your PACS. If you need
a comprehensive restore, we will ship you an external hard drive or DVD. We charge only our costs to ship a hard disk or DVD.
Datacenters
To maintain redundancy PACSDrive has data stores located throughout the United States. We have data locations in Dallas/Fort Worth, St. Louis, and make use of Amazon S3 storage to further prevent catastrophic loss.
